Sex During Pregnancy

A pregnant woman craves for more attention from their men. Even though her man shares the same level of affection and attraction, she feels otherwise. Sex during pregnancy is a matter of care and self assurance for a woman more than sexual satisfaction. It is also a good idea to explore new ways and positions of love making. It has been observed that for most couples the decision to have sex during pregnancy is more mental than medical.

Sex during pregnancy has been medically approved to be safe but might depend on individual condition. It is better to take advice of your doctor. Also, make sure you follow the below given guidelines:-

  • Sex position in pregnancy becomes very important. You need to make sure that there is not much pressure on the female body. Woman on top position or side-lying are advisable as pregnancy advances.

  • Avoid intercourse or any sexual activity if advised to do so by your doctor or midwife or care provider. Even if intercourse and sexual activities are advised by the care provider, it should be done looking at the comfort level of the female. Use proper lubrication before you start to penetrate.

  • Make sure that you don't insert water or air inside female's vagina. Douching should never be done during pregnancy.

  • It is important for male partners to understand that sex during pregnancy is not about getting satisfied but about caring for your partner and her needs. A bit of humor, creativity will be handy while making love during pregnancy.

  • Listen to the woman and make her feel comfortable enough so that she can say "NO", if she doesn't want to.

  • When a woman is at high risk for preterm labor, completely avoid orgasm and intercourse until your care provider confirms it to be safe. Nipple stimulation is also not recommended in these circumstances.
